Repeating Eutrophia

Quinto appuntamento del nuovo ciclo di conversazioni itineranti “Venice as a model for the future?” (“Venezia come modello per il futuro?”).

✨ “Repeating Eutrophia”, progetto di lunga durata iniziato da Confluenze nel 2018 nasce da una ricerca sugli ecosistemi, in particolare sulle zone intertidali della laguna veneziana.

➡️ L’Eutrofizzazione, fenomeno chiamato anche “fioritura” delle acque, è presente in molte lagune del mondo, è ciclica e progressiva, data dal ritmico ripetersi di dinamiche umane degradanti, il cui riverbero si ripercuote sui sistemi naturali. Autodistruzione, dunque, portata da una floridezza eccessiva, riflesso di analoghe dinamiche in atto nella società dell’abbondanza.

L’inizio della performance riflette uno stile libero, lineare e ripetitivo che descrive lo stato di emergenza, nella quale la laguna si trova sempre più frequentemente. Il pubblico è chiamato a seguire l’azione anche attraverso i propri dispositivi mobili, cercando un rapporto che si instaura tra la natura e il movimento, tra organismi virtuali e corpi artificiali.

🌊 Seguendo il flusso della performance ci muoviamo controcorrente, dalla laguna verso il mare, ricercando uno spazio acquatico in forte cambiamento per chiederci: quale nuova percezione si apre da questa relazione inscindibile tra ecosistema e umanità?

Fifth appointment of the new cycle of itinerant conversations “Venice as a model for the future?”.

✨ “Repeating Eutrophia”, a longterm project started by Confluenze in 2018, stems from research on ecosystems, in particular the intertidal zones of the Venetian lagoon.

➡️Eutrophication, a phenomenon also called the “blooming” of waters, is present in many lagoons around the world, and is cyclical and progressive, given the rhythmic repetition of degrading human dynamics, the reverberations of which have serious repercussions for natural systems. It is therefore self-destruction, brought about by excessive prosperity, a reflection of similar dynamics taking place in a society of abundance.

The beginning of the performance reflects a free, linear, and repetitive style that describes the state of emergency, in which the lagoon finds itself ever more frequently. The public is also invited to follow the action through their mobile devices, seeking a relationship established between nature and movement, between virtual organisms and artificial bodies.

🌊 Following the flow of the performance, we move against the current, from the lagoon towards the sea, searching for a radically changing aquatic space to ask ourselves: what new perspectives open up from this inseparable relationship between ecosystem and humanity?
